Helsingor End-Grain Board
End grain is the way serious boards have always been made. Blocks of haldina and sheesham are stood on end and joined face to face, so your knife meets the fibres tip-first and slips between them instead of cutting across. The checkerboard is what that construction looks like when two woods alternate.
Made by hand
Cut, shaped and finished by hand. Because no two pieces of wood are the same, the grain on the one you receive will not match the photograph exactly. Read how it is made →

Care
Hand wash with mild soap and warm water, then dry standing on edge. Oil occasionally with any food-safe wood oil to keep the grain from drying out. Not dishwasher safe, the heat and the standing water are what split wooden boards.
End grain means the blocks are stood on end, so the knife meets the fibres tip-first and parts them rather than cutting across.
Acacia, mango, haldina and sheesham. No veneer, no particle board.
Cut, finished, and on the carved pieces patterned by hand.
Every board carries its own grain. Yours will not match the photograph.
Wash, dry standing on edge, keep it out of the dishwasher.

Our craft
Made by hand, meant to be kept
Each piece is cut, shaped and finished by hand. Looked after, a wooden board outlasts almost anything else in the kitchen, and when it wears you sand it back rather than throw it away.
